How it works

Step 1

Send a request via the Contact form below

Step 2

I'll be in touch with you via email within 24 hours to discuss your portrait.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any ideas about how you’d like your portrait to look – I have lots of experience and can make suggestions on what might work best.

I’ll also give you an estimate of the delivery timeline for your order.

Step 3

Once the details of your portrait are confirmed, you'll receive a short commission contract outlining all the details of your order including pricing, payments, artwork specification and delivery dates.

Step 4

You can send your photo/s via email and I will start work on your portrait. Initially I will create a mockup (see below). Once you are happy with the mockup the painting will proceed.

Artwork generally takes 2 to 3 weeks depending upon workload.

Step 5

Once the artwork is complete, I’ll send you a digital "proof" to review. Once you’ve approved the artwork, it will be sent to one of my specially selected professional printing partners.

Step 6

You'll receive your finished print! Now all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your new artwork!

The Process

  • Your Photo

    It all starts with your photo. Once we’ve had a chat about your portrait, I’ll let you know how to submit your photo/s. The quality of your photo does impact the final result, so make sure you choose one that is clear, well lit and without obstructions.   • Mock Up and Painting

    I’ll create a mock up to show you how your painting will look. This will show the layout and colour palette. If you’re happy with the design, the painting begins! Generally paintings 2-3 weeks depending upon workload. Before starting your portrait I’ll give you an estimated delivery date.

  • Approval and Printing

    Once your painting is finished, I’ll send you a proof copy. This is a small digital file which you can review and approve before we go to printing. Once you’ve approved the painting I will send the digital file to one of my carefully selected printing partners. I have worked with these printers for many years and know they provide quality, archival prints. Once they have completed the printing, they’ll carefully package and ship your artwork directly to your door.

What will it cost?

The cost of a custom portrait varies according to a number of factors. Simple pet portraits (one subject on a plain background) start at A$389 for an 8 x 10” canvas.

Things that will determine the price of your painting include:

  • Number of subjects to be painted

  • Quality of photos - clear, well-lit photos free of obstructions will result in a better portrait

  • Background choices - complex backgrounds take more time to paint

  • Complexity of the subject - for instance, costume portraits generally involve intricate costume details

Which photo should I choose?

Choose a photo that you love! The main thing should be that your subject’s expression is one that you like since that is what will be in the final painting. Please be sure that your photo is high resolution, clear and in focus.

How long will my custom portrait take to create?

Approximate turnaround time from the time you order to when you receive your canvas is about one month. This is for a basic portrait of one subject. More complex pieces with multiple pets or people and detailed costume portraits may take a bit longer. Once you've contacted me for a portrait and we've discussed your needs, you'll receive a more accurate turnaround time.
